The state of the economic situation had been a long time coming.  The situation unfolded in a way much like that of a office party with China and the United States waking up in bed the next morning, each of them blaming the other for needing to use protection.  The leaders of the G20 are having that first Monday morning staff meeting where the awkwardness is so thick you can cut it with a knife.  China and the United States are attempting to convince the rest of the world that they need to act as if nothing happened and follow their lead, or the pictures will get posted to Facebook.
